In this workshop, students will work on current commercial and TV/film scripts.
Learn how younger actors book jobs on prime time tv shows, as well as channels such as Disney and Nickelodeon.
Using Michael Shurtleff’s Audition Approach as a foundation, Adria will help students transfer their on-stage acting to on-screen acting, and expand their potential as performers.
ADRIA DAWN (Actor/Teacher/Producer) teaches on-camera acting at Acting Studio Chicago, Tarleton/Dawn Productions, and The Performer’s School. She served on the faculty at Columbia College Chicago and is a private on-camera acting coach. Adria is a co-founder of Revealing Media Group, which focuses on making contemporary films for social change. Working with young actors, these films have an educational distribution and play at film festivals.
Adria loves working with talent of all ages and levels, and has taught workshops or spoken at SAG-AFTRA Chicago, Franklin Arts Center, University of Michigan, DePaul University, Loyola University, Columbia College Chicago, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, New Trier High School, Chicago High School for the Arts, Chicago Screenwriters Network, Camp Hollywood in Portland, Oregon, Southside School, Champaign, IL, Chicago Acting in Film, The Chicago Artists Coalition, Deerfield High School, Gray Talent Group, The Illinois High School Theatre Festival and The Actor’s Centre in London, England. Her volunteer work includes having served on the board of the Chicago Acting In Film Meetup Group, and currently, she is the casting director for Chicago Screenwriters Network Table Read Series. She also teaches out of her own studio, Tarleton/Dawn Productions, and is excited about her upcoming class, Reel Acting, Taking Training Out of the Classroom, and Onto the Set. (Winter 2018/2019).
As an actor, Adria spent many years in LA. One of her career highlights is TV mogul Ryan Murphy’s cult hit Popular (18 episodes, April Tuna) for which she was nominated as “Gutsiest Woman on Television,” by Jane Magazine. Adria just wrapped the feature film, A Land Not Yours, in St. Louis, MO. She also starred in the film #nofilter (Cannes Story Corner) and recently closed Dorkumentary Live!, a mixed media stage piece that she created and produced at Stage 773.
