Acting For Ages 1st - 12th Grade

The basis of all acting is being able to listen and be in the moment. Through exploration, theatre games and physical work, George sets boundaries so the students can have the freedom to express themselves within these boundaries. This class is offered in three different age groups. No prior experience necessary. "Life changing. One of the best classes EVER---maybe the BEST."

7 Shows in 7 Days: A Musical Theatre History Class
For Ages 5th - 12th grade

Build your show repertoire!
Each class focuses on one show. Discuss the history & roots of the show, characters & their context within the show, learn choreography and work scenes from the show. A great way to get to know new shows and understand how much research is needed to prepare to audition for a show!

Make a difference!Filmmaking for Social Change For Ages 5th - 12th grade

Adria Dawn returns to collaborate with students to make a new short film In this five week class. Being left out of something or not being considered part of a group for whatever reason is hurtful and together the class will create a film that deals with this important topic head on. Students will write, act, shoot, produce and screen a collaboratively-created original short film that centers around the theme of exclusion. Learn everything that it takes to make a professional short film; from in front of the camera to behind the scenes. This class ends with a special invited film screening. (Younger students with permission of instructor.)

Circus Arts For Ages 10 - 17

Students will be introduced to partner acrobatics, extreme flexibility and stretching (contortionism) and tumbling. Skills will be practiced with a focus on safe and consistently sensational presentation. And if you like tumbling, think about adding the tumbling class at 10 to your Saturday morning!

Tap 1 (Beginner) For Ages 9 - 17

Class will focus on solidifying the basic steps of tap to help build a strong foundation, proper technique, and to help learn combinations for auditions. Tap is great for rhythm and gaining the ability to pick up combinations. Musicals almost always require strong tap ability! Follow this up with the musical theatre dance class for a well-rounded dance experience.

Musical Theatre Dance For Ages 9 - 17

Learn dances from popular musicals. Have fun in this high energy class! It's ideal to take both dance classes on Tuesday: tap and then this musical theatre dance class for a well-rounded dance experience. A great way to get better at learning how to memorize sequences quickly! Strong technique not required.

Tap 2 (Advanced) For Ages 9 - 17

Students who want to register for this class must be able to do pullbacks; single/double/triple time steps; wings. Musicals almost always require strong tap ability, so this is the class to take to stand out from the rest! Combine this with the musical theatre dance class for a well-rounded dance experience.

Tumbling For Ages 10 - 17

Class starts with a warm-up followed by mobilization and stretching, then moving into basic gymnastics skills such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, walkovers and handsprings. All skills will be practiced individually as well as incorporated into tumbling sequences.

COLLEGE PREP WITH LIZ & STACEY

When applying for Musical Theatre programs at universities, most colleges require two contrasting monologues and two 16-32 bar cuts of contrasting songs. Some even require short video clips of choreography and dance technique. This task can seem daunting and overwhelming. We can help! Stacey and Liz will help guide you to choose material for your child's college audition, and coach your child so he or she can get into that dream school! Contact us directly to set up appointments.

THE PERFORMER’S SCHOOL POLICIES – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

PAYMENT & REGISTRATION
  • Registration requires that either payment in full or a non-refundable deposit ($250 for summer camps; $50 for all other classes) accompany the enrollment form.

  • Registration options for classes that meet over several weeks (summer camps excluded) include (1) signing up for the full session, or (2) signing up individual sessions at $30 per session (1-hour classes) or $50 per session (2-hour classes). There is no prorating nor is it possible to convert a class registration to a per-session registration once the class has started.

  • Payment in full is due two (2) weeks before the class begins. Registrations after that date must include payment in full and are not eligible for any refund.

  • Please make checks payable to The Performer's School, Inc. and mail to Stacey Flaster, 593 Warbler Court, Highland Park, IL 60035.
REFUNDS
  • TPS will refund 50% of the paid class fee only if notification of the cancellation has been received at least 15 days before the class begins. You may choose to have the refund amount issued to you by check or have the refund amount credited towards a future class.
  • TPS will not refund any monies received if notification of the cancellation is received 14 days or less before the class begins regardless of the reason for the cancellation.
ATTENDANCE
  • Please arrive on time and stay until the class ends.
  • If your student will miss a class due to illness or an unexpected reason, please email Stacey ASAP at stacey@theperformersschool.com
CLASS CANCELLATION
  • The Performer's School, Inc. reserves the right to cancel classes/workshops if minimum enrollment is not reached 7 days prior to the first session of the class/workshop, or for any other reason. All monies paid will be refunded in full. You may choose to have the refund amount issued to you by check or have the refund amount credited towards a future class.
